Leslie Crowder

Meg is really the childhood alias of Leslie Diane Crowder (maiden name Smith).

I was born the youngest of four daughters to Lois and Lynn Smith in 1964. My father was in the Navy and stationed with his family in Kenitra Morocco when I was born. He was stationed back to the United States at Norfolk, Virginia when I was two years old. Therefore, unfortunately, I have no memories of Morocco. My father remained stationed in Norfolk until he retired from the Navy. Thus, I never led the "Navy Life" and traveled. I grew up in Norfolk, Virginia and attended the University of Virginia in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain foot hills of Charlottesville, Virginia.

I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences in 1986 and worked at the environmental chemistry laboratories of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia, performing chemical analyses until 1989. I then became an Industrial Hygienist for the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. I am now certified in the profession. I know that no one has ever heard of an Industrial Hygienist (it does NOT involve cleaning anything!). I perform assessments of worker exposures to noise, chemicals, radio frequency radiation, heat stress, etc... and then make recommendations (as necessary) to protect the workers.

On the personal side: I am married and have a two year old son. (He is just about the same age as Sid's Django.)  I also have two cats.  My interests include science, music (I have played piano, clarinet and bassoon.), skiing and good food.

On Star Trek: I, along with the rest of my sisters, grew up on Star Trek (TOS).  I have always eagerly watched all the movies, TNG, DS9 and Voyager.  DS9 is by far my favourite. My interest in DS9 and my favourite character (Julian Bashir of course) grew to the point that I decided that I had to find out more about the actor who portrayed him. That's when I found this website and the Doctor's Exchange fan club [now Far Beyond the Stars] (which I joined immediately). I have become as big a fan of Sid himself as I am of the Julian Bashir character. I enjoyed tuning into the Sid City website and was thrilled when Melissa asked me to help her out and be part of the Sid City staff. I am enjoying working with Sid City and talking to everyone at the message board.
